Stone Arrow Jewellery is pleased to be supporting the Upsidedowns education trust.

Below is the the nice thanks you we received from them:

I am writing to personally thank you for your support of our annual fundraising event, Experience the Upside. With your help, we were able to raise over $40,000 to provide speech language therapy to kids with Down Syndrome all over New Zealand.
Our evening at Giltrap Audi was a huge success, with a wide variety of live and silent auctions taking place and generating a lot of interest. Michelle Maitland, our auctioneer, proved her chops by live-auctioning 12 fabulous prizes, including the middle name of our board member and MC, Tom Pedlar. A unique opportunity!
Our guest speaker, Alex Snedden, a young man with Down Syndrome, spoke openly about the freedom and empowerment he gained from the speech language therapy he received as a youngster. Alex explained that he worked hard to be able to order a “chocolate muffin” at a café, and that he continues to find opportunities to learn. Alex now has three jobs, has presented to the United Nations in New York on World Down Syndrome Day and is the Vice President of People First’s Northern Region. He’s a busy man! I’ve attached some photographs from the evening for you to enjoy.
Our work is far from over, though. We still have 23 children on our waitlist, and this number is growing every month. We’d love to be able to support more families, but we require the help of our communities, as we don’t receive any government funding. All of our efforts are driven by a team of volunteers and parents.

"It may come as a surprise that the specialist education needed to ensure children with Down Syndrome are equipped with the best education to enable independence in society is not provided in New Zealand as part of the government's education curriculum. It is only available through private practitioners."

The Upsidedowns Trust helps by funding New Zealand families with early intervention education - you can read more about them here

To help support this cause then enter the code UPSIDEDOWNS when you checkout and 20% of the value of your purchase will be donated to them. (valid for any purchase until Xmas 2015)
